Panda storytime

PANDA STORY-TIME

I would suggest altering "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" to "Panda Bear, Panda
Bear." The full rhyme, as I know it, is:

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear turn around

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear touch the ground

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear go upstairs

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear comb your hair

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear turn out the light

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear say goodnight!

There are a lot of other versions out there, but this is the one I grew
up with as a jump rope rhyme, and its easy to do because you can just
match your actions to the words.

You can also try looking through the Texas State Reading Club at
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/ The 2005 theme, "Go
Wild....Read!" and I know there were some jungle animal programs in
there.

For fingerplays/rhymes in general, I often search through

I am a Panda

(tune of You Are My Sunshine)

I am a panda

A furry panda

I live in China

And eat bamboo

It is a thick grass

That grows in my land

And it's not that easy to chew.

"Panda Pokey" (put your snout, black ears, white tummy, and black tail
in) with panda puppet

Five Little Panda Bears

Five little panda bears and no more

One waddled off and then there were four.

Four little panda bears sleeping in a tree

One fell out and then there were three.

Three little panda bears said "What can we do?"

One ate some bamboo leaves and then there were two.

Two little panda bears playing in the sun.

One heard his mother growl and then there was one.

One little panda bear leaft all alone.

He got up and ran right home.

Did You Ever See a Panda (sung to Did you ever see a lassie)

Did you ever see a panda, a panda, a panda.

Did you ever see a panda,

who climbs oh so nice

He climbs and he climbs and he climbs and he climbs,

Oh, did you ever see a panda who climbs oh so nice

(change nice to fast, slow, silly, etc)

Here is a song that I've used in a Panda storytime before.

I also used the Bamboo & Friends books by Felicia Law.

Song - Panda Bears... (To the Tune of: Mary had a little Lamb)
Grizzly bears are big and brown. Polar bears are
soft and white.
Big and brown, big and brown, Soft and white,
soft and white,
Grizzly bears are big and brown. Polar bears are
soft and white
And live in the woods. And live
where it is cold.

Panda bears are black and white, Teddy bears are just
my size.
Black and white, black and white, Just my size, just
my size.
Panda bears are black and white. Teddy bears are just
my size
And live in the jungle. To cuddle
with at night.

Panda bear, panda bear, Turn around,
Panda bear, panda bear, Touch the ground
Panda bear, panda bear, Dance on your toes,
Panda bear, Panda bear, Touch your nose
Panda bear, panda bear, Give a little clap,
Panda bear, panda bear, Take a nap
